Founded in 1689, Friends Select is an independent, college preparatory school in a mid-century urban building that serves 500, pre-K to 12th-grade students. AOS’s work aimed at improving the school’s athletic facilities, classrooms for the youngest students, performing arts space, circulation and overall energy efficiency.
The renovation of the historic Blauvelt Theatre has truly sparked the imagination of the Friends community. Heavily utilized for classes, performances, ceremonies, professional development and neighborhood gatherings, the Theatre now seats 364 on two levels, with additional accessible seating. A multi-purpose venue with lighting and acoustics designed for theatrical, music and spoken-word performances, the Theatre now supports and inspires students to reach well beyond their grasp.
