El Camino Real Development Concept Plan

AOS Architects and MRWM Landscape Architects have been working with Bernalillo County in New Mexico to provide a conceptual plan that outlines a vision for preservation and public use along El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro National Historic Trail.
AOS Architects developed a robust survey app to document sites and features along the trail. The project team also created a virtual tour using Google Voyager that highlights significant areas on the route. The project recently launched a digital public engagement campaign seeking input, histories, and perspectives from the communities along the trail. An important goal of the project is to create a framework for inclusive storytelling that will make the visitor experience more comprehensive, authentic and meaningful along this historic route. Feedback from the communities will help identify potential sites and preferred routes for the public to visit, experience and learn about the trail.
The project is a partnership between Bernalillo County, the City of Albuquerque, the National Park Service, and The University of New Mexico. Learn more on the project website.
