Owe’neh Bupingeh Construction and Exhibit

Construction began today on Phase 5 of the award-winning Owe'neh Bupingeh Preservation Project. Another nine adobe homes in the traditional village of Ohkay Owingeh are being renovated, and one new home is being constructed. This will bring the total number of homes completed in the project to 44. We are thrilled to be working again with the Ohkay Owingeh Housing Authority and Avanyu Construction on this important effort.
The project is also featured in the July/August 2021 issue of Metropolis Magazine, in the article "Toward a Contemporary Indeigenous Architecture" by our colleagues Ted Jojola and Lynn Paxon. The article highlights our work at Ohkay Owingeh among several other recent and notable projects illustrating contemporary building by Pueblo people. This work will be featured in a 2022 exhibition at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center in Albuquerque. tentatively titled "Nah'thu-ahhth (Where We Live) - Contemporary Pueblo Architecture."
