Paul Robeson Charter School Celebrates Construction with Topping-Off

Paul Robeson Charter School (PRCS) celebrated a construction milestone last month, marked by a topping-off ceremony held at the school’s new home on the Ewing Township-Trenton, NJ border. Members of our design team joined school staff and administrators to sign the final structural beam before watching it be lifted into place. The beam will remain exposed inside the building at the top of the school’s main stairwell.
The event also gave school staff the opportunity to tour the under-construction facility. Teachers were able to locate their future classrooms, and the group explored the facility including the beginnings of the new cafeteria and gymnasium space.

PRCS is a lottery-based, open-enrollment charter school committed to providing students with an education that challenges, engages, and prepares them to pursue their dreams and become active, civic minded leaders.
The new 55,000 sf school building will serve 750 kindergarten through 8th grade students and include 38 academic classrooms, science labs, elective spaces, administrative and academic support spaces, a shared cafeteria-gymnasium, and a variety of welcoming and flexible student spaces. In addition to the new facility, the site will feature a playground, basketball court, and a large grass area with sculpted berms for outdoor play and learning. Dedicated parking and designated pickup/drop-off zones will support safe and efficient daily operations. Construction is set to be complete this fall.
