Principal Sam Olshin, FAIA Presents at the Ideal Cities Symposium

Last month, Principal Sam Olshin, FAIA, presented at the Ideal Spaces Symposium in Karlsruhe, Germany. The Symposium brought together practitioners and academics from around the world in the fields of architecture, design, and planning to engage in conversations about the intersection of community spaces and ecological processes within urban centers. Sam’s session, along with all of the other presentations from the Symposium, can be viewed on Ideal Spaces’ website.

Sam’s lecture discussed the importance of creating and maintaining engaging pedestrian-scale community spaces in American cities and the role collaborative design plays in their success. The talk featured recent AOS projects at both Lafayette College and the City of Allentown Arts Park.

Following the in-person gathering, his writing was published in Ideal Spaces Magazine. Ideal Spaces Magazine is an international journal features writing by architects, planners, academics from all over the world, providing insight into the diverse issues in planning and design.

The article builds on ideas shared and discussed at the Symposium, while bringing a specific focus on considerations for making Philadelphia a more active, diverse, and equitable place to live, work, and visit. Read the full article here.
