Renovation at Cornell’s Olin Hall will Create Collaborative Student Spaces & Laboratory

Olin Hall, designed by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon (architects of the Empire State Building), was constructed in 1941 and is home to the Smith School of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering (CBE) at Cornell University. AOS recently completed the design of renovations in the building to create a new shared research lab and a collaboration space.

The new space on the building’s first floor provides a contemporary and student-centric “heart area” with an open and inviting lounge that supports academic and community life. The first-floor renovations also include improvements to offices for the Engineering Department faculty and staff. The new basement laboratory creates a modern and expanded facility that will support three CBE faculty researchers and their teams. Jacobs Laboratory Consulting is the lab consultant on the team.
